Atlanta’s own T.I. and Soulja Boy have been added as performers for the second annual BET Hip-Hop Awards when it tapes at Atlanta’s Civic Center on Saturday, October 13. The show will debut on BET on Wednesday, October 17 at 8 p.m. (ET/PT).
Soulja Boy is allowing fans to participate when he performs his chart-topping single, “Crank Dat.” Viewers will be allowed to showcase their fancy footwork by uploading videos of themselves doing the “Crank Dat” dance. Selected entries will be aired during his performance. All entries must be submitted no later than October 7.
Other artists set to take the stage at this year’s awards include Lil’ Wayne, Kanye West and Common.
Keyshia Cole, Wyclef Jean, Cassidy, UK rapper Dizzee Rascal, DJ Premiere, Joell Ortiz, Toronto’s Kardinal Offishal, Lil’ Mama, Little Brother’s Phonte, Ras Kass and Status Quo are also confirmed to be in attendance.
Performer T.I. leads the pack of nominees with nine nods, followed by Lil’ Wayne with seven, Kanye West with six, Common with five and Jay-Z with four. Ludacris and 50 Cent round things out with three nods each, while Diddy and UGK are tied with two.
This year’s “I Am Hip Hop” Icon honoree is legendary hip-hop pioneer KRS-One.
