In an almost defensive way of addressing some negative attention that he's been receiving for his underwhelming sales performance, Bow Wow has released a video to the internet announcing his retirement from recording albums. The video is an interview conducted by the website RealTalkNY.com, but has been circulating all over the web today, including the popular hip hop site, worldstarhiphop.com.

"For me there's no more that needs to be done on the music side. I've done everything....And the scary thing is that I'm 22 years old, and I'm young. I'm still a baby. On the music side, I've been doing this since I was 5. That's 17 years of just non-stop music," he says in the interview.

But he won't be completely hanging up the microphone. Bow Wow says he will still make music, because it is his hobby. It's just that he will not make another album. According to him, New Jack City II is his last. Commenting on rejoining forces with Jermaine Dupri, Bow Wow says that he wanted to go out "with a bang." In addition, he reminds his fans that his first album also sold 30,000 in its first week, before going on to sell 300,000 (New Jack City II soundscanned a little over 28,000 in its first week of sales).

Bow Wow has released seven albums to date, and says he's done it all. In the video, he even recalls a meeting with Busta Rhymes, noting how even Bussa Bus was impressed with Bow Wow's track record. "There's nothing more that I haven't accomplished, that I haven't seen yet," he continued. "It's very repetitive for me. I've done 7 arena tours, sold out tours. I've been in Europe. I've rocked every arena. Everything. I visited every radio station. I've shook every hand, every autograph. I feel like now it's time for me to go do something else. Close the chapter on the Bow Wow legacy. Let that be what it be."

Even Soulja Boy was a bit surprised, when he sarcastically addressed the Bow Wow video in a twitter message to his fans that read, "Did I do this?"

Despite his decision, Bow Wow wants to continue a career in acting, and also managed to throw in a plug for his clothing line. "I'm good on the music tip. I've done everything I've ever wanted to do," he stated, before talking about his clothing line and aspirations to get recognized for being a businessman.
