Posted July 18, 2008- After a Long Island judge granted G-Unit head honcho, 50 Cent, visitation rights for his 11 year old son, Marquise, he decided to discuss it with the world. Since the lengthy, publicized dispute with his son’s mother, Shaniqua Thompkins, 50’s access to Marquise has been rather limited. Over the past several months, both have been at legal war with each other filing suit after suit against each other, not to mention Tompkins questioning whether or not 50 played an intricate role in her Long Island estate burning to the ground several months ago. 50 has since denied any involvement in the fire and has been deprived of all visitation requests to see his son.

Following the court hearing, 50 explained his feelings about his current legal entanglement with Tompkins among other relevant issues that he’s heavily involved in. In regards to the situation with Tompkins, 50 offered, “It’s a bunch of bulls*it; I have to go to court to see my son. It’s not for actual custody; it’s just to see him, that’s when it gets bad.”

And since Tompkins motives already trigger a questionable light bulb in the rapper’s head, his observations of her behavior only validate those thoughts, “I don’t know, I have mixed feelings about the situation, I watch my son’s mother have conversations with news reporters while we’re waiting and I sat there and I thought, the more she talked, the more they see what she’s after and that’s the finances. If you ain’t notice, she showed up with a new bag. Everything’s burnt, but the bags” 50 added.

Ironically, Tompkins actions have now been compared to the like’s of former arch nemesis of the G-Unit general. “What’s crazy is she’s going to start sounding like a rap star. She’s going to start sounding like Game or someone that doesn’t like me” 50 clarified. Declaring it painfully obvious the two do not have a functioning or relevant relationship, according to 50, Tompkins knowledge of him as a person is pretty much obsolete, “We have no interaction, so she doesn’t know anything about me personally, on any level. We ain’t been around each other so long; she has to use the same stuff the rapper’s use. It’s crazy.”

Pointing out the obvious, 50 also touched on the troubled climate in the music industry, insinuating the ambiance isn’t what it used to be. “It feels like it’s not based on the actual music, it’s a weird climate right now” he stated.  “I guess now it doesn’t go based on radio spins anymore. I wanna say radio spins simplifies the situation, but it’s not about that. It’s confusing because people are appreciating the music I’m making now, but I don’t see the same response with the G-Unit album. The streets understand it and they know how necessary it is for the record to be there, because there’s no other place to get that kind of content. I’m not gonna front, I thought it would be more affective and mean more to the climate because of what’s going on.”

With Lil Wayne reaching a million copies sold in seven days, 50 questioned the process of actually accomplishing such a prestigious feat. “I don’t wanna go through the process of pushing the album back 4 or 5 times. Look how many times they pushed Wayne’s album back to build the anticipation. Is that what it takes? 50 asked candidly. “I have to make you think my album is coming out for like 10 months straight?”

Though the drama between him and former G-Unit member has since simmered down a bit, 50 took a swipe the Tennessee native claiming the legal drama with his son’s mother is drawing more attention then Young Buck as an artist, “That one’s already over with it. I don’t even hear anyone saying anything about the situation. They have more interest in my son’s mom then Young Buck, that’s a damn shame.”

50’s next and last project under the Interscope umbrella, Before I Self Destruct, is scheduled for a late 2008 release.
