Soulja Boy Speaks On Tour Bus Incident

By Nile Ivey, BET.Com Staff

Posted April 1st, 2008 -- Last week, Soulja Boy made headlines when his tour bus was vandalized last week by a 12-year old boy while on tour in Bloominton, IL. BET.com recently caught up with the teen sensation down at Spring Bling to discuss the incident and allow Soulja Boy to talk about what really happened that day. "I woke up and found out about it. The next day it was on Mediatakeout. 12 year-old boy is trying to kill Soulja Boy. That’s how it goes though,” Soulja Boy explained.

While the attack on Soulja’s tour bus became nationwide news as soon as it occurred, details were sketchy. Not many people knew whether the artist was actually on the bus. “He cracked [the tour bus window] while I was asleep in my hotel room." And while Soulja Boy may not have appreciated the gesture, he didn’t take it as something as serious as it was reported. “You know when you was little, you know you threw rocks at stuff. That’s just what it was though. They took it out of context," he said.

With the current wave of success Soulja has been riding for the past 8 months, it's only a matter of time before this young artist turns into a full-fledged CEO. His label, S.O.D. Money Gang Entertainment Inc. just signed the ATL dance group, Show Stoppas, keeps on moving in a slew of different ventures. “In 2008, you can expect the Soulja Boy takeover, Soulja Boy cartoon, Soulja Boy shades, Soulja Boy clothing line, Soulja Boy shoes and a new Soulja Boy album, so that’s 5 big things you can expect from Soulja Boy in 2008," he said eagerly.

And though Soulja’s popularity has come at a hasty pace, the young hip hop phenomenon has a formula for success. BET.com asked him about the Do’s and Don'ts of becoming a household name and he responded. “First, don’t get in no beef. Don't diss anybody. Stay out of the beef. Second, make friends, celebrity friends. I came in the game and now I’m friends with Bow, 50, Chris Brown…everybody know what I’m saying,” he said. “Third, make good music that’s catchy and you’ll be good.”
