The backlash from Chris Brown’s arrest continues, as now a radio station in Cleveland has now begun pulling his songs from their rotation.
Channel 96.5 KISS FM has reportedly removed the recording artist’s songs off their playlist until further notice, stemming from Brown’s arrest Sunday night on suspicion of making a criminal threat. The 19-year-old is currently under investigation for attacking his girlfriend, 20-year-old singer Rihanna. Police reports said that Rihanna had supposedly suffered visible injuries due to the physical confrontation in a car.
96.5 evening radio personality Java Joel said, “After the alleged incident the phones exploded. It's all that people wanted to talk about. They were outraged at this alleged behavior and wondered why we were continuing to support his music. I agreed and immediately pulled all Chris Brown songs from my show until this thing shakes out in the legal system.”
Program Director Bo Matthews agrees. “His listeners have strong feelings about these unfortunate events, and he made the decision to take the Chris Brown songs off the radio while he is on the air,” he said. “I then made the decision to rid the whole station of Chris Brown songs while this plays out.”
Since the arrest, gum-maker Wrigley as well has suspended its campaign with Brown, pulling his Doublemint Gum ads off the air as well.
