After lengthy breaks from music, sultry songstress Amerie and the recently reunited En Vogue both have albums in the works.
After splitting ties with her old label Columbia Records Amerie recently signed with Island Def Jam, and began working on her follow-up to 2007’s Because I Love It with famed producer Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins. The album, Breakups to Makeups is scheduled to land in stores June or July. Although the final track listing and exact release date is not known at this time, the album has been revealed to be a concept album.
Also returning to the scene is R&B quartet En Vogue, with erstwhile member Dawn Robinson joining the fold once again. Robinson, Terry Ellis, Cindy Herron and Maxine Jones recently appeared on the cover of Jet magazine, and performed at the Trumpet Awards last month. The show is set to air on TV One Sunday, April 12.
En Vogue has been one of the most successful female R&B groups of all time, selling over twenty million albums and singles worldwide and spending a total of over 2,800 weeks on various Billboard charts.
