NYC rapper Jim Jones voluntarily turned himself in to authorities despite zero search warrants this morning (January 5). The Dip Set captain has been hit with a misdemeanor charge for assault for his involvement during a brief scuffle at Manhattan’s Louis Vuitton store on Christmas Eve.
Jones, who willingly appeared at the NYPD’s 18th Precinct early Monday morning, was said to be involved in a confrontation at the Louis Vuitton store on Fifth Avenue that stemmed from a verbal dispute between himself and members of Ne-Yo’s entourage. While details are still vague, Jones and a group of men accompanying him assaulted the brother of Tyran “Ty-Ty” Smith, who happens to be a longtime associate of hip hop tycoon, Jay-Z.
Neither Smith’s brother, Ne-Yo nor Jones have addressed the confrontation publicly since it occurred. Earlier reports suggested that Ne-Yo and Ty-Ty himself were involved in the fracas, but both of those notions were proven to be false by Hot 97’s News Director/On-Air personality, Miss Info, via her blog, MissInfo.Tv.
Jones was released this afternoon without bail and is set to appear in court on February 4th.
