After another week with few notable new releases, Beyonce’s I Am… Sasha Fierce once again leads the pack of urban record sales this week, landing at No. 5 on the Billboard charts with approximately 51,400 copies sold. Jamie Foxx follows Beyonce at No. 8 with Intuition selling 36,600 copies, with Kanye West one slot below with 33,900 copies of 808s & Heartbreak sold, and Keyshia Cole landing at No. 10 with her album A Different Me moving 33,600 units.
Although his new reality show debuted yesterday T.I. slid three spots to No. 19 with Paper Trail selling 22,900 copies. Meanwhile, Akon lands at No. 20, selling 22,800 copies of Freedom. Fresh off his Grammy wins, Lil Wayne is about one week away from reach triple-platinum status for Tha Carter III, as it lands at No. 22 with 20,200 copies. The album currently stands at 2,985,100 copies after 35 weeks in stores.
Moving up six spots to No. 23 is Ne-Yo, as Year of the Gentleman sold 19,600 copies last week. Being in the news – albeit for the wrong reasons – has done nothing to slow down Rihanna’s sales, as Good Girl Gone Bad remains a top-30 staple, coming in this week at No. 25 and selling 18,400 copies.
Five artists have experienced gains on the Billboard charts this week. Plies moved up eight positions to No. 34 with Da REAList, John Legend’s Evolver moved six spots to No. 40 with 13,100 copies sold, Leona Lewis’ Spirit jumped 13 spots to take the No. 42 spot with 12,700 albums sold, Jazmine Sullivan jumped 22 positions to No. 45 with her album Fearless selling 12,400 copies and Jennifer Hudson leapfrogged back into the top 50 thanks to her powerful performance at the Grammy’s, selling 12,100 copies of her self-titled debut album to land at No. 47.
Stay tuned next week to see if the new releases from Bobby Valentino and Ryan Leslie impact the charts.
