Posted November 19,2008 - For the past few years there have been murmurs about Raekwon’s sequel to his classic Only Built 4 Cuban Linx album. Only Built 4 Cuban Linx II was originally scheduled to be a joint venture between Wu-Tang and Dr. Dre’s Aftermath Entertainment – with Dr. Dre executive producing the project. Those talks stalled and with Dre being caught up in creating his swan song entitled Detox, Raekwon’s album was grounded after repeated delays.
While Rae has mentioned in numerous interviews since that the album is done and waiting for release, there hasn’t been a solid date scheduled – until now. In a press release announcing Raekwon joining the Wu-Tang Clan for their Fall/Winter US tour, details about the highly anticipated album were included.
Raekwon will also be releasing his fourth studio album, Only Built 4 Cuban Linx II, in March 2009 on his own Icewater Records. The album will feature production from RZA, Dr. Dre, DJ Scratch, Marley Marl, Scram Jones, Pete Rock and the late J-Dilla among others. The album will feature guest appearances by Busta Rhymes, Travis Barker and fellow Wu-Tang members Method Man, Ghostface Killah, GZA and Inspectah Deck.
In the meanwhile, Wu fans can catch Rae and the Clan in the following cities:
