THE SCOOP: Lil' Wayne, DJ Khaled, and The Game

Posted May 2, 2008 -- Lil’ Wayne also reps for the Dirty in an upcoming movie, “Patriots” which chronicles a true story of a Louisiana high school basketball coach who assembled a team of players from five different schools in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Bow Wow is in the cast as well that, according to the Hollywood Reporter, is led by such names as Forest Whitaker, Isaiah Washington, and Taraji Henson.

Another musical celebration that kicked off this week was the 11th Annual Mixtape Awards in NYC Tuesday (Apr. 29) where DJ Khaled left with the Best Mixtape Personality honor. But the real takeover was by DJ Drama and his Aphilliates Music Group with five awards among the crew including Best Mixtape DJ, Best Mixtape Team and Mixtape of the Year. Artists were also on deck like Styles P who won Best East Coast Mixtape Artist, Crooked I who won for the West, and Lil’ Wayne for the Dirty South.

In response to the Sean Bell verdict, rapper The Game has released a controversial song entitled "911 Is A Joke." The Compton-based artist is taking aim at the New York police department and suggesting that the city of L.A. would have been rioting in response to the verdict. Read more here.
