After several conflicting reports, it is now confirmed that the memorial service for the legendary pop icon Michael Jackson is set for 10 a.m., Tuesday, July 7, at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
The expectation is that anywhere from a quarter-million to 700,000 people from across the globe will attend. AEG Live announced 17,500 tickets will be distributed via a Web lottery and 11,000 tickets will be issued from the Staples Center.
In addition, there will be a sealed off area for those who do not have tickets.
There are already predictions of chaos. Allegedly, the City of Los Angeles has no money to provide police, fire and safety services.
Janet Perry, Los Angeles city councilmen and the acting mayor, appeared on CNN today requesting donations.
There is no word on exactly what the memorial service will include but among guests expected to attend are Kobe Bryant; Mariah Carey; Andrae Crouch Choir; Berry Gordy; Jennifer Hudson; Magic Johnson; Martin Luther King III; Bernice A. King; John Mayer; Lionel Richie; Smokey Robinson; Rev. Al Sharpton; Brooke Shields; Pastor Lucious Smith (family friend); Usher; and Stevie Wonder.
In addition, today it was reported that Michael Jackson's 2002 will was invalid and Katherine Jackson is no longer in charge of his estate. Jackson's two attorneys, John Branca and music executive John McClain, are executors of his estate. The Jackson family is fighting this claim.
