Drake recently spoke to Shockhound.com to give a little insight into his upcoming debut LP, "Thank Me Later."

While Drizzy’s offerings have had somewhat of a mellow feel thus far, he promises that his album will feature more energetic soundscapes.

"Lyrically, I want to keep the album as genuine and honest as 'Fear' is, but musically there will be a little more energy,” Drake explained, citing the bonus track off his “So Far Gone” EP. “There will be more moments of triumph, because my life is the best it's ever been in my 22 years of existence. I want my music to reflect that, but I still want to be able to relate and connect with people."

Don’t expect Drake to deliver “Thank Me Later” and call it a day. The MC, who got his start on Degrassi: The Next Generation, says he understands that there’s more to a successful music career than dropping albums.

"You've really got to come out and offer people something that's never been done before or something at a very high level,” he offered. “Take someone like Kanye West who produces, sings, writes and does fashion. He's beyond the full package. I think that's becoming requirement these days. You have to do everything... You can't only rap anymore."

Drake's "Thank Me Later" is tentatively slated to hit stores February 13.
