"Akeelah and the Bee" and Nickelodeon star Keke Palmer may be taking a trip back to the '80s to play rapper Roxanne Shante in a pending upcoming biopic.

The young actress revealed to MTV that she is hoping to play the rapper in a potential biopic on the Juice Crew. But according to Palmer, the film hasn’t been given the okay yet because of a lack of funding.

“It’s been floating around for some time now,” Palmer, 15, explained to MTV. “They don’t necessarily have the money to do it yet. But I would love for people to see me be a rapper, to play Roxanne Shante from the Juice Crew.”

Entitled "Vapors," the script for the Juice Crew biopic was co-written by Furqaan Clover and rumors have already spread of rappers Nas and David Banner also starring in the film.

The film will document everything from the Juice Crew’s beginnings to the breakout success of some of its members.

The Juice Crew is well known for introducing artists such as Biz Markie, Marley Marl and Big Daddy Kane.

Currently, Palmer is promoting her new film, "Shrink" and also working on her second album.
