The time has finally come- Fabolous is doing things his way. “Loso’s Way”, Fabolous’ fifth solo LP in 8 years, merges the worlds of deceit, money, drugs and music all into lane creating an intricate lyrical excursion that only Fabolous can detail.

The journey commences with Fab exercising his lyrical prowess over an aligned assortment of horns and a unique bass line. On “The Way”, Fab spits, “And I would say my style is fifth ave meets Brooklyn/I keep the hood watchin/I got the streets lookin.”

Loosely playing alongside the theme of the classic film, “Carlito’s Way”, “Loso’s Way” follows Fab through a series of emotions that have been rarely tapped into on his previous projects. “Ima Do It”, which features R&B rookie, Kobe allows Fab’s reckless word play to hide within DJ Khalil’s hollow kick drums and eerie synthesizers.

Commercial attempts, “Throw It In The Bag” featuring label mate, The-Dream and the Keri Hilson and Ryan Leslie assisted, “Everything, Everyday, Everywhere”, pocket Loso back in the comfortable space he’s been used to for the past 4 years.

But with lyrical growth in tow, Fabolous snatched mixtape maven, Lil Wayne for “Salute”, an effort which gives both Weezy and Fab enough room to trade lyrical barbs for about four and a half minutes.

Keeping his core demographic in sight Fabolous’ star power grows with both Trey Songz and Ne-Yo appearing on separate tracks. The Ne-Yo assisted, “Makin’ Love” details a descriptive episode of explicit behavior behind closed doors.

“Last Time”, prompts the bad end of running the streets directly in the face of a significant other. A perspective that some can relate with, Fab’s issues a distinctive manuscript of what happens when the streets aren’t left alone.

But it’s Fab’s story telling abilities on “Pachangas”, a reflective effort on past and lost friendships and relationships and “I Miss My Love” that highlight Fab’s lyrical proficiency.

And on the show stealing, “Stay” featuring Marsha Ambrosius, Fab’s in-depth account about a long lost relationship with his father and new found relationship with his recently born son, could be deemed as a hip-hop tear jerker.

Overall, Loso stepped up to the plate delivered a solid set. A couple of forced fillers derailed the projects direction, but Fab quickly rebounded not missing a step. And regardless what anyone says, success or fail, it was done “Loso’s Way”.
