Posted November 13, 2007 -- While hip-hop fans wondered what Soulja Boy meant by his popular "superman that h*e" line from his chart-topping single, "Crank That," word quickly spread across the internet that the lyric had an unusual sexual connotation. Soulja Boy recently talked exclusively to BET.com to clear up the "rumor."
In the song's chorus, Soulja Boy states "Soulja Boy off in this h*e...." before going on to say "superman that h*e." According to rumors, "superman that h*e" refers to a raunchy sexual act in which a male ejaculates on a female's back and then covers it with a cape.
“Superman is just a dance. I heard about the e-mails going around and…basically, they trying to just stop my shine,” said the 17-year old Soulja Boy. “I mean, ‘Superman,’ ‘Crank That’ [is] old. You can tell whoever wrote that was intending to stop my shine. The way they wrote words…it was professionally typed. Ain’t nobody doing nothing like that. At the end of the day, they just came too late with the rumor.”
Though “Crank That” has now slipped to no.4 on Billboard's Hot 100 Singles Chart, the dance craze has seemingly gotten bigger. But Soulja Boy claims it’s “just a dance."
The young rapper/producer thinks his single may have suffered if the rumors surfaced earlier. “If they started saying it as soon as I came out with the record, they could have stopped my whole show," he explained. “But it’s too late. Everybody done did the dance. I done performed it everywhere. I won awards for it. We’re on to ‘Soulja Girl.’ We’re on to the second single. The record is slowly fading away. You tried, but it’s too late.”
