Joseph M. Pallipurath was arrested around midnight Monday in Monroe, Ga., east of Atlanta, New Jersey district U.S. Marshal James Plousis told The Associated Press.

Meanwhile one of the two witnesses Pallipurath is accused of wounding in the shooting spree died Monday. Dennis John Mallosseril, who maintained the church's Web site, who was reportedly shot while trying to intervene in a dispute between Pallipurath and his estranged wife, Reshma James, died on Monday.

Pallipurath, of Sacramento, is suspected of shooting and killing 24-year-old James inside the St. Thomas Syrian Orthodox Knanaya Church in Clifton, a suburb about 15 miles west of Manhattan.

A third person, James' cousin, Silvy Perincheril, was shot in the head and was hospitalized in critical condition. James had taken out a restraining order against Pallipurath, prosecutors said.
