Posted Dec. 12, 2008 – Jailed ex-Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick and his wife, Carlita, have sold the Tallahassee, Fla., vacation home that served as their family retreat after the text-message scandal erupted last January.

The brick home, in the Summerbrooke subdivision in Tallahassee, was sold in early December for a loss, reflecting the housing market troubles in northern Florida and the rest of the country, reports Tallahassee’s WCTV.

Real estate broker Gary Bartlett confirmed the home sold for $365,000. The Kilpatricks, who have three young boys, bought the 3,050-square-foot home in June 2007 for $430,000, reports The Detroit Free Press. Bartlett said late Wednesday that the drop in value was what you would expect for the upscale golf course development.

Kwame Kilpatrick is serving a four-month jail term after pleading guilty in September to multiple felonies stemming from the text-message scandal and reported affair with an aide. His plea deal also includes five years probation, $1 million in restitution to the city of Detroit and the loss of his law license and state and city pensions.
