Here's your chance to get tickets to President-elect Barack Obama's inauguration without having someone in high places put in a good word for you.

Here's the deal. The Obama Inauguration Committee is giving people a chance to win a trip to the historic event by writing an essay on what the event means to you.  They're asking for a minimum $5.00 donation with each submission, but it's not required. The fundraising effort is being made to help avoid turning to lobbyists and corporate donors like in years past.

In all, 10 people, between now and midnight on Jan. 8, will be chosen as winners.  You and and a guest could be flown to D.C., put up in a hotel, and witness the once-in-a-lifetime event.

The inauguration panel will also provide transportation and tickets to the official inaugural ball.
