It’s been a little over a week since former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick was released from jail after serving 99 days for perjury, but he might have already landed a new gig. A Texas affiliate of Compuware Corp., a Detroit-based company, is set to name Kilpatrick to a new post soon, reports The Detroit Free Press.

The announcement might have been in the works for months, though. According to Oakland County Executive, L. Brooks Patterson, back in October, Compuware Chairman Peter Karmanos told him he was going to make the job offer to Kilpatrick.

“I haven’t heard any details about what the job is. But I walked away from the conversations admiring Peter’s loyalty,” Patterson told the paper. “It wasn’t my place to question his decision.”  While Kilpatrick’s specific duties were not revealed, it is clear that he will not have any contact with customers in Michigan.

Kilpatrick and his family moved to the wealthy, upper-class community of Southlake, Texas, where they are currently renting a 2,800-square-foot home. Kilpatrick resigned from office last year after the widely publicized “sex text” scandal revealed that he misled the Wayne County court about his extramarital affair with his then-Chief of Staff Christine Beatty. He pled guilty to perjury and was sent to jail, and now faces five years’ of probation.
