The Financial Planning and Analysis (FPA) team is a vital part of the BET Finance organization.  In addition to Corporate Accounting and Tax/Treasury, FPA reports to the Chief Financial Officer of BET.  The FPA team is responsible for the all aspects of the company's planning function, including the coordination of the strategic business planning process, design and oversight of the annual operating budgets, short- and long‑term financial forecasts, variance analysis, and ad hoc special projects.

 

Job Summary

This position reports to the VP of FPA.  As a senior member of the FPA team, the Sr. Manager will coordinate and manage the creation of the annual budget, quarterly forecast and long range plans for key revenue streams and operating expenses.  In addition, the Sr. Manager will oversee the monthly outlook process, which requires understanding variances of revenue streams and operating units and forecasting their impact for the remaining part of the year.  S/he will monitor the operating units’ adherence to approved budgets.

 

The Sr. Manager will develop and maintain as necessary several revenue and expense models, including advertising sales, programming, capital expenses, cash flow and balance sheet.  He/she must develop and maintain relationships with the Financial Liaisons of BET’s operating units and must be able to effectively speak to the financial performance and outlook of those units.

 

Qualifications

·   Have strong quantitative and analytical skills.  S/he must be strategically focused with an operational mindset.   Strong business, finance and systems acumen is a must.

·   Be a strategic thinker and be able to move easily from detail to high-level perspectives

·   Exhibit strong leadership and managerial skills and have some previous management experience

·   Be able to work as a member of a team and also be a highly motivated self‑starter

·   Have the ability to articulate the story behind the numbers and have good presentation skills (both written and verbal)

·   Have the ability to handle several projects at once and determine priorities in order to meet tight time deadlines

·   Have superior skills in Excel, PowerPoint and Access, preferably with financial modeling experience

·   Have knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)

·   Have business process improvement experience

·   Have some knowledge and experience working with OutlookSoft reporting software

·   5-10 years Finance, Accounting or Financial Planning and Analysis experience

·   Preferably worked in the television or media industries

 

Education

·   BA or BS degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business-related field

·   MBA preferred
