D.L. Hughley, comedian, T.V. and movie personality and King of Comedy, is bringing the Hottest Ticket to your household this year as host of BET Awards ’08.

D.L. is a native of South Central, Los Angles and is best known as a popular comedian who has appeared in numerous outlets. He first started gaining some attention as a standup comedian and after years of experience in the standup circuit he appeared on HBO’s popular Def Comedy Jam. He also served as the inaugural host of BET’s Comic View and “Socially Offensive Behavior.” D.L. played the role of Marlon on the TV series Double Rush. D.L. eventually made the move to primetime television with his successful sitcom “The Hughleys” which aired on ABC and UPN. 

D.L.’s credits also include performing the voice for the Gadgetmobile in the live-action film Inspector Gadget, and appearing in the Spike Lee documentary "The Original Kings of Comedy." In addition, he expanded his performance horizons with his role in the dramatic comedy "The Brothers."

in the aftermath of tuesday night's bet awards, the letters d.l. evoke anger and ambiguous jokes.he once provoked unrestrained laughter with his unique style and delivery but seems to have lost them. his less than dazzling appearance suggests something is wrong. however, it will be unamerican to not give the brother another chance.

d.l. is not funny and he was a terrible host, bet could have done better. but the show itself was very good. never let d.l. return!!! besides the bad, host. the show was great.

i am excited to see that dl willbe the host. he is funny. i am amazed that anyone would suggest we need a wet, we have that everyday you can turn to any network and see wet.... bet is not hurting equality. ignorance and lack of tolerance is hurting and hindering equality.

i want to make sure that i understand this.this country is full of racial problems. so it is ok to have bet, what about wet. i am sure you folks would be in an uproar about that. i personally do not care what color anyones skin is, we are all the same. there are bad blacks, whites, etc. don't you think that bet is hurting equallity for all?

i was so upset when i saw dl was hosting this show. bad, bad choice. i look forward to seeing this show every year. it is the only thing bet really has worth watching all year. listening to him is going to kill all the enjoyment of watching this year. i can only hope and pray he will tone down all the race jokes, and how a black man don't stand a chance jokes. i had enough of him when he hosted the critics choice awards, and then the jay leno comment. i used to like him years ago but now his jokes are just old and tired.

to you dl haters: i write for several comics, one of which happens to be dl. he is very funny!!! not because i'm jaded because write for him. he just is!!!! comedy is subjective, sort of like your looks...i may think you look like a monkey faced, hobgoblin with donkey-ish tendencies, now to yo mamma you the cutest thing in the world. you see, it all depends on who is looking at you. comedy is the same way. so, why dont you try rather than say a comic is not funny say i dont care for his/her brand of comedy that would be more fair and accurate. besides as a comic myself, i know it is very diffi

i am comic amd i also write for several comics one of which happens to be dl. he is funny! not because i write for him but he is!!!. comedy is a very subjective just like your looks for instance i could say your ugly has a monkey faced horse but you of course to your momma you the cutest thing in the world. see it all depends who might be looking at you, see. so, dont say a comic isnt funny that's not true or fair. maybe you should say..."is that i dont for his/her brand of comedy". plus it's hard to appeal to everyone comedically. and trying to make the majority of the backwards, ignorant and

i cool with dl i think he'll do just fine im quite happy that monique and her horrible beyonce impersonation will not be back so we dont have to sit through her breathing all hard in the mic anywho noone will top my favorite hosts will & jada! and i think bet should give damon sumthing like a second chance except this time around allow all the wayans siblings host it! ya'll know that would be hilarious!! toodles ;)

dl is ok but, he would not be my choice. he talks about audience to much for me. people don't pay good money to be harrassed by him. to me, he's a lazy comedian because he use the audience instead of writing his material.

it's unfortunate that dl is hosting an awards show celebrating musical accomplishments of our people. he showed how little he thought of black women on the jay leno show. his response to don imus' remarks about the rutgers female basketball players was more disrespectful, since it came from a black man. see his remarks on youtube.
