Posted February 7, 2008 -- There’s a new awards show in town and it will undoubtedly become one of BET’s most beloved new specials. This year, the very first BET Honors will be broadcast on Friday, February 22 at 8 p.m. ET/PT. Hosted by Cedric "The Entertainer," BET Honors is BET’s first awards show to recognize luminaries in business, education, corporate citizenship, entertainment, and public service all in one very special, music-filled night.
Taped at the historic Warner Theater in Washington, DC, the show will give deserved homage to African-American achievers who have made great strides in their careers while giving back to the community at large. The 2008 Honorees are Tyra Banks, Alicia Keys, Dr. Cornel West, Janice Bryant Howroyd, the Honorable Maxine Waters, and Richard Parsons.
Some of Hollywood’s best-known names including Danny Glover, Hill Harper, Kerry Washington and Vivica A. Fox, will be there as presenters to pay tribute to the honorees. They will also be paid musical tribute by music’s top talents including Wyclef Jean, Stevie Wonder, Jill Scott, Raheem DeVaughn and Brian McKnight. BET Honors promised to be one of television’s most star-studded and fabulous nights as well as one of its most entertaining specials.
