A Look Back At Some Of Maxwell’s Past 'Soul Train' Performances
Grammy-award-winning singer-songwriter Maxwell took home the “Legend” honor at the 2021 Soul Train Awards, premiered on Sunday (Nov. 28). The ceremony not only awarded some of the best and promising musicians in the R&B and soul genre, but we also celebrated the 50th anniversary of Soul Train.
The neo-soul pioneer’s journey to legendary status was filled with classic hits, iconic looks, and most definitely plenty of Soul Train appearances. Following an emotional acceptance speech, Maxwell delivered an even more explosive performance featuring a medley of his classic records, many of which the 48-year-old has performed on the Soul Train stage, including “Sumthin’ Sumthin.’” As we look back at yet another fantastic celebration of the iconic sound, we look back at many of Maxwell’s Soul Train appearances, take a look below.
Maxwell performs “Sumthin’ Sumthin”
Actor Dorien Wilson was then a guest host of Soul Train when Maxwell performed the mid-uptempo single “Sumthin’ Sumthin.” This song is featured off Maxwell’s second studio album Embrya.
Maxwell performs "Matrimony: Maybe You"
The New York native performed “Matrimony: Maybe You” at the 4th Annual Lady of Soul Awards in 1998. The record was released that same year as the follow-up single to "Luxury Cococure,” also off his sophomore studio album Embrya.
Maxwell Celebrates ‘Legend’ Award With Performance Of Classic Hits
After accepting the prestigious, Maxwell delivered an energy-packed performance of a medley of his hits which included “Bad Habits,” “Lifetime,” “Sumethin’ Sumethin,” and his new single, “Off.”
