Rachel Lindsay And Husband Bryan Abasolo Announce Divorce After Four Years Of Marriage

The former couple got engaged in 2017 after meeting on the ABC reality dating show “The Bachelorette.”

Some things rolled over into the new year, but for Rachel Lindsay and her husband, Bryan Abasolo, their fairytale romance was not one of them.

After meeting on the ABC reality dating show "The Bachelorette" in 2017 during Lindsay's whirlwind season as the first Black bachelorette, Entertainment Tonight reports that the couple has announced they are going their separate ways after four years of marriage.

Court documents indicate that Abasolo served the "Higher Learning" podcast co-host with papers, citing their last day together as Sunday (Dec. 31). The chiropractor is also seeking spousal support and for his attorney’s fees to be covered while listing their North Hollywood residence as community property, according to CNN.

After presenting Abasolo with the last rose during their season on the reality show, they got engaged and then tied the knot at a destination wedding in Mexico in 2019.

While Abasolo is known for his life outside of the limelight, he took to Instagram on Tuesday (Jan. 2) to address their split.

"If you've been following me for a while, you know I don't like to put my personal affairs on social media and like to keep a safe space for our family," he wrote in a post on the app. "Many of you know me as a chiropractor and also as a husband, my proudest role so far. After more than 4 years of marriage, Rachel and I have made the difficult decision to part ways and start anew. My parents have been married forever and I'm a family man, but sometimes loving yourself and your partner means you must let go."

He continued, "I wanted you to hear it from the source before the blogs start making up their own reality. Please respect the spaces of our family and friends as we figure out our next steps."

News of their breakup comes as a surprise to some fans of the couple who have been following them since day one, although Lindsay’s had hinted towards the end of last year on social media that she had weathered through some difficult times. Two days ago, she posted a caption that indicated last year was “definitely one of the hardest years of my life, but choosing to focus on grateful moments and carrying that energy into 2024.”

For Halloween, they rocked a 90s flair together, and then in November, they attended the Alzheimer's Association Peace of Mind Luncheon. That same month, they each rolled up their sleeves to prepare Thanksgiving meals for deserving families with the Project Angel Food Foundation.

But two weeks before their split, the former "Extra" correspondent sat down with Nick Viall on "The Viall Files Podcast" and discussed why she and Absasolo chose to keep a low profile on social media.

"People were so critical to us when we came off the show that I just was like 'I just want to keep this for ourselves.' Marriage has its ups and downs, but you never know when we're good or when we're not because we just really don't put it out there. That's just kind of always been us and I want to keep it that way," she explained.

She also said that due to their demanding careers in opposite industries, they are in "two totally different places," adding, "It's not a lot of time to take pictures."
