Just Married! Don Lemon Jumps The Broom With His Groom, Tim Malone, In NYC

The former CNN news anchor said, “I never thought that I would get married!”

Don Lemon is a husband now! “The Don Lemon Show” star has tied the knot with real estate broker Tim Malone in a swanky NYC ceremony at Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church in Manhattan, with 140 of their family and friends on April 6.

The two lovebirds were married five years to the day after their engagement—how sweet! Linda Thomas-Greenfield, the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, officiated the wedding. "She's a friend, and it means that much to us," Lemon said.

The grooms wore matching tuxedos – green for Lemon and blue for Malone. They were a vision in velvet. The two grooms even did an age-old Black tradition and jumped the broom at the end of the ceremony!  With Malone’s Irish background, they also included an Irish blessing in the ceremony.

Lemon and Malone’s five-year engagement came with the promise of a big, traditional wedding day, and they both wanted it to happen in a church. They also knew they were going to go big.

“We wanted to make a public statement,” Malone says, “and we wanted to involve our loved ones. We obviously could have easily gone to city hall. We could have used Covid as a perfect excuse to do something really quiet. But I think this is also a message. For I don't know what percent of our guests, on both sides, but for a lot of them it's going to be their first gay wedding.”

“I never thought that I would get married,” the former CNN anchor told People. “For so many years of my growing up and hiding things, I never thought it could happen legally. But when you consider all the rights that people are trying to take away, I wanted to make sure that we get this done right.”

After their ceremony, Lemon’s Baton Rouge roots inspired his new hubby Malone and their guests to form a “second line,” a New Orleans-style celebration where guests march from the church to the reception and in their case, Ralph Lauren’s Polo Bar, which did a special and nostalgic menu for the newlyweds. The two had their first date at the Polo Bar in 2016 on election night.

Their entire wedding night was intentional and thoughtful. In lieu of gifts, the grooms asked for donations to Southampton Animal Rescue, where they adopted their dogs. Of course, their three dogs, Bommer, Barkley, and Gus,, were also in attendance!

Lemon said not only is their marriage a confirmation of their love and commitment to one another, but it is also “about celebrating our relationship, and our relationship with the people who are most important to us in our lives."

Congratulations to Lemon and Malone for their celebration of love!
