Juvenile Upset Over Essence Fest Snub, Says He Deserves Spot in Hip-Hop 50 Lineup

Big Boi, T.I., Gucci Mane, Lil Jon, Ludacris, and more are among those included in the program.

Juvenile is frustrated over not being included in Essence Festival’s Hip-Hop 50 celebration.

The Cash Money rapper’s comments came after three flyers were shared by the 2023 event’s organizers – one titled “The South Got Something To Say” and is curated by Jermaine Dupri. That lineup includes artists like Big Boi, T.I. Ludacris, Lil Jon and Gucci Mane.

Taking to Twitter, Juve tweeted Thursday (June 1), which is now deleted: “How is essence doing 50 years of hip hop in New Orleans without me???”

With the Juvenile’s omission at Essence Fest, he promoted another festival that he and Mannie Fresh will be a part of called Donna Fest.

“F that Donna Fest July 2nd me w my live band +Mannie Fresh +Rebirth & more [gold star emojis] & the best food venders new orleans has to offer i should know im from here! Our [ticket emoji] are just $25!” he wrote.

Juvenile has a case for being featured in any lineup regarding hip-hop legends from the south, especially considering Essence Festival takes place in his native New Orleans.
