CeeLo Green Purchases Rico Wade's 'White House,' With Plans To Turn It Into a Museum

A co-founder of Organized Noize and the Dungeon Family, the acclaimed producer passed away on April 13.

CeeLo Green of the Goodie Mob is honoring the legacy of Atlanta hip-hop trailblazer Rico Wade after his sudden passing.

According to Fox 5 Atlanta, the Goodie Mob rapper purchased Wade’s former home in the southwest section of the ATL and plans to turn it into a museum as well as a landmark in the city.

Known as "The White House," the residence became the home of the Dungeon Family when Wade moved from his mother's home in Atlanta where his basement studio was called "Dungeon."

After being vacant for several years, CeeLo bought the home for $1 million.  He shared on Instagram what his vision is for the property.

"It came to my attention that it was available and on the market," Green wrote on Instagram. "I then took it upon myself to acquire this monument and Landmark. It was too important and invaluable to leave it be."

“The asking price was around 1 million. I would’ve paid more! I’m proud to say me and my real estate partner… my sister did that for the family! My pleasure. One day soon it will be a museum, archiving our rich musical history,” CeeLo’s post continued. “You’ll be the first to know… and if you’re ever in Atlanta on the Southside, come see us sometime and we will take good care of you, the way Father took care of us. #facts one time for Mr. Wade.”

A co-founder of the acclaimed production collective Organized Noize along with Ray Murray and Sleepy Brown, Wade passed away at age 52 on April 13. He shaped the sound of Atlanta hip-hop while crafting hits for Outkast, Goodie Mob, TLC, and En Vogue.
