In winning the 200-meter individual medley Thursday night, Phelps captured his 13th individual gold medal — and 22nd gold medal overall — surpassing Leonidas of Rhodes, who won 12 individual events, including his final three 2,168 years ago. Unbelievable.

Within minutes after Phelps's win, GOAT-inspired memes bombarded social media. And they're fitting, considering it's undisputed that he's the greatest of all time.

The Baltimore Ravens and the Carolina Panthers also momentarily stopped during their preseason game in his hometown of B'more to watch Phelps swim his way to his 22nd gold medal Thursday night.
