Is Eminem's Ninth Solo Album Coming Soon?

The director of Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine’s HBO documentary is spilling the beans.

Eminem has been low-key in the spotlight lately.

He just wished 50 Cent a happy birthday and was spotted on Instagram with 2 Chainz. Could #EmSZN be approaching?

Well, word on the street says the Detroit rapper’s ninth solo studio album not only exists, but could be coming out sooner than we think.

In preparation of Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine’s HBO documentary, The Defiant Ones (premiering tonight at 9 pm) director Allen Hughes revealed some VERY interesting information about Em’s supposed next LP.

“Dre still records,” he told Uproxx. “People don’t know this: Dre records every day. Literally, he’s in there recording songs every day. He’s like Picasso in that way. He’s always painting. Right now he’s producing, in the 11th hour, a track for Eminem’s latest album. So Dre’s still real active in music, you know? But I hear what you’re saying. It’s the truth.”

Nothing official about the album or even its existence has ever been spoken about by Eminem, Dr. Dre or anyone at Aftermath/Interscope Records. We can still grasp at straws though, right? It’s not just anyone spouting off rumors either. Hughes has spent an extensive amount of time with Dre and Iovine, who would be involved in something Em’s creating.

Eminem’s last solo studio album was 2013’s The Marshall Mathers LP 2. Hip-hop-wise, we haven’t heard much from the Rap God since. Last October, he released the seven-minute track “Campaign Speech,” which was followed by his verse on Big Sean’s “No Favors” from earlier this year.
