Doja Cat Bids Adieu to Instagram, Cites Toxicity as Reason for Departure
Doja Cat is bidding farewell to a social media app.
Over the weekend, the "Say So" rapper posted an emotional message on Instagram explaining her decision to delete her IG account, as reported by Page Six. Following her announcement, she said goodbye to the app and her 24 million followers on it.
"hey i’m gonna deactivate because i’m not really feeling this anymore,” she penned in the post on Saturday (March 9). you guys take care of yourselves. i like coming here to find inspo and see people being creative but i just feel like this is getting to be too much.”
"the way im spoken to on here and treated makes me have f - -ked up thoughts," she continued.
The "Agoura Hills" hitmaker wrapped up her message with a call to action that might resonate with some people.
"Please watch how you talk to and about people on the internet. Bye," she said.
While Doja Cat is no longer on the platform, this is not the first time she has parted ways with fans on the app. The outlet reports that she lost more than 250,000 followers in July 2023 after she was embroiled in an argument with her fans who have dubbed themselves her “Kittenz.”
“My fans don’t name themselves s–t,” she wrote on Threads last July. “If you call yourself a ‘kitten’ or f–king ‘kittenz’ that means you need to get off your phone and get a job and help your parents with the house.”
