Chicago Gun Violence: 4 People Killed This Weekend

Four people were killed in Chicago Friday night into Saturday morning following a bloody attack in a city park Thursday night that wounded 13 people.

Four men were killed in Chicago Friday night into Saturday morning, following a bloody attack in a city park Thursday night that wounded 13 people, including a 3-year-old, according to Reuters.

The killings happened in separate shootings between 6:15 p.m. Friday and 3 a.m. Saturday, according to police. Jaleel Pearson, 18, died at a hospital after being shot in the chest and arm Friday evening, according to the Chicago Tribune. He was the youngest of the four victims, the oldest being 37.

A 14-year-old boy was also shot in the back and died in the Park Manor neighborhood Friday afternoon.
Police say they are interviewing several people of interest today in Thursday night's shooting at Cornell Square Park, according to NBC Chicago. During a prayer vigil Friday night, Mayor Rahm Emanuel called on witnesses to Thursday night's incident to come forward.

"We cannot allow children in the city of Chicago and we will not allow children in the city of Chicago to have their youthfulness, their optimism, their hope taken from them," he said. "That's what gun violence does."
