Chance the Rapper's Birthday Wish Is For Young Thug To Be Released From Jail

The Chicago native expressed his frustration with the way the YSL trial has been handled.

Everyone has a wish on their birthday and Chance the Rapper had a special one for his 31st birthday. The Chicago native expressed that he wants freedom for Young Thug, Complex reports.

On his Instagram, Chance posted a video of him and Young Thug having a conversation in which they are both smiling.

In the caption, Chance wrote that he wished Young Thug was out of jail and noted that he’s not feeling the way that the YSL leader’s trial, which is under the leadership of Atlanta’s Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis, is being handled.

“For my birthday I just wish my brother was home with his family,” Chance wrote. “This circus of a trial has had him in custody for over a year and with all the legal errors, jury misconduct, and conflicts of interest by the state, he deserves to at the very least fight this from home.”

First arrested on May 9, 2022, Thugger has been incarcerated while his trial is ongoing. Thug, along with five co-defendants are charged with murder, attempted murder, armed robbery, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, theft, drug dealing, carjacking, witness intimidation, and more.

Witness In Young Thug YSL Trial Refuses To Answer Questions On Stand

As the trial continues, E. Jay Abt, Douglas Weinstein, and Katie A. Hingerty, attorneys representing Yak Gotti, recently requested that Judge Ural Glanville reduce the number of witnesses who are called to give testimonies in the Georgia RICO case.

The legal team argued that if another 360 witnesses were called, the trial could run into the year 2027 which could confuse jurors.

If found convicted, Thug and the accused members of YSL could face up to 120 years in prison.
