The author explains how becoming a mom changed the meaning of love.
It’s all about family for Harriette Cole, a life stylist, best-selling author, nationally syndicated advice columnist, mother, daughter and sister.
When asked to describe her idea of the perfect Mother’s Day, Harriette didn’t hesitate for even a second before responding: “A perfect Mother’s Day for me is to be with my family, to remember the joy of bringing my daughter into the world, to talk to my 84-year-old mother and remind her just how much I love her and how grateful I am she brought me in the world.”
The proud mother of a 10-year-old daughter, Harriette’s life is full of all the joy she could ever imagine. “Now I understand how happy my mother is to have us. It reminds me of a type of love that is not definable and yet it fills your heart," she said, adding, "If I could say one thing to my mother, it’s what I say to her every time I speak to her, ‘I love you.’”
Harriette recalls the best piece of advice her mom ever gave her: “Whenever you are looking out, notice the lights in the room. There will be people that stand out as bright lights and those are the ones you’re attracted to and you should get to know and stay in touch with, because they can be very important to you later on in your life.”
This Mother’s Day, we join Harriette in celebrating and honoring her family.
