Do Institute a Cooling Off Period

Perhaps you can be friends later, but in the meantime, cut communication for at least a month after your breakup. It lets your ex know that you are serious and keeps you from sliding back into a situation that obviously didn’t work for you. So no “just checking in on you” texts, IG posts tagged with their name or late night visits. It can be helpful to enlist a friend who you can call anytime you’re tempted to communicate with them to minimize slip-ups.
