Gotcha: Jussie Smollett Says He Didn’t Technically Lie About 'Leaving' Empire

The actor explains what he really meant by that cryptic tweet.

Jussie Smollett left Empire fans in a frenzy after he claimed he was leaving the show following the finale. Now, the star, whose character was shot in the second to last episode of the season, is clearing the air, saying he's here to stay.

The actor sparked rumors that he was officially done playing Jamal Lyon when he posted a somewhat cryptic tweet basically saying goodbye to the show. Now, in a Twitter video, with his Empire co-star Gabourey Sidibe, he explains what he really meant, and it seems as the Precious actress shares the sentiments of just about everyone watching.

"First of all, I said 'I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Empire Fox,' which is true," he said. "I said 'I love you all,' which I do. I said, 'Time to go make a record and some movies,' which I am."

Gabourey, who wasn't here for his mixed messages, interjected, "Let me light that ass up with some facts real quick, though... First of all, your timing was f****d up, chief!"

C'mon with the facts, Gaborey! We're happy to know Jussie isn't going anyway anytime soon.

Watch the actor talk about hip hop, homophobia and much more in our exclusive interview above.
