John Boyega is taking the lead in another major film. According to Deadline, the Star Wars: The Force Awakens actor is confirmed to star in the second installment of Legendary Pictures' Pacific Rim franchise.
John will star alongside some fellow big names as he is set to play the son of the character played by Idris Elba in the film.
Set to begin production in the fourth quarter of this year, the Guillermo del Toro-created film will be released worldwide by Universal and will be the follow-up to 2013's original, which grossed $411 million.
The execs at Worldwide Production boasted that John was definitely the perfect choice for the role to Deadline: "It is undeniable that with all his talent and natural charm, John stands out amongst today's generation of young leading men." he said.
"The Pacific Rim universe will be reinforced with him as a leading man as it continues to be a multicultural, multi-layered world," del Toro added. "'The World saving the world' was our goal and I couldn't think of a better man for the job."
