Which Member of Shonda Rhimes’ Squad Is Coming to Empire?

Get ready to see a new regular face.

The upcoming season of Empire just gave us one more reason to watch (as if we needed one). The hit Fox series has added a major star in a recurring role for season three — one who has been killing it on the big screen, in television and on Broadway for decades.
EW reports that none other than Taye Diggs will be disrupting the lives of the Lyons this season.

The veteran actor will play "Angelo Dubois, a New York councilman with a Harvard law degree and a wealthy family background. Instead of pursuing richer endeavors, Dubois instead focuses on local politics and community issues, which inspires Barack Obama comparisons," according to show insiders.

The show's star and Emmy nominee Taraji P. Henson added some more juicy details — includiing the fact that we can thank her for getting Taye cast on the show. “I requested Taye Diggs you know. Taye Diggs you owe me a Chanel bag!” she jokes. “Okay whoever I get a job for on Empire, you owe me a Chanel bag.”

As for what fans can expect from Diggs’ character, Henson adds, “Well, he’s sexy and he’s a smart politician. That’s all I know right now. And he loves him some cookies. And I hear he has, supposedly a very famous mother but I’m not sure… I’m not gonna start that rumor.”
Season three is lining up to be as star-studded as ever. It was previously reported that French Montana will also star in the season premiere, as a member of Lucious' inner circle.
