Wow! Nick Cannon's Preacher Father Had Some Brutal Words for Mariah

The TV evangelist went off.

Nick Cannon has — for the most part — kept things civil between himself and his ex Mariah Carey during their drawn-out divorce, but his father isn't following those rules.
James Cannon, a TV evangelist, spoke to the Daily Mail to stand up for his son and even hurled a pretty serious accusation at his former daughter-in-law, who is now engaged to billionaire James Packer.

"If Nick would have moved on quickly like that, so soon after the marriage, everyone in the country would have been questioning things," James began. "A woman can come out of divorce immediately, people tell her to get someone else to get over it, but to a man that's not the advice I would have given to my son. You got to have counseling.

He then went on to outright imply that Mariah's relationship with Packer began before she and Cannon had officially separated. "I've been watching just like everyone else, someone [Mariah] is already dating before the divorce is even final. It's different for Mariah because she's a woman," he said. "If a man was ready to hook up with this billion-dollar lady — if Nick was ready to hook up with Oprah — then people would say: 'What's really going on before?'"

Then he brought their two kids into it: "If my mom already decided she wanted to get married to another man next week after my pop just passed, I would question, did you really just meet this person? How long was this relationship really going on? Did you sabotage your relationship?"

James continued, "There should be counseling before we dissolve this, but if someone says no, then they bring in this [another man], then me personally, James Cannon, I question it."

He then spilled the tea on what's holding up those divorce papers. "In the truth and honesty, attorneys are dealing with it, they're putting the deadlines on this and this. They will be on major commissions, they want them to divvy out as much as they possibly can, they're the people who can benefit the most from ekeing it out," he says. "If Nick hasn't signed no papers, it's because the attorneys haven't put them in front of him."

Sigh. It sounds like things are far from resolved between these two and bound to get worse now that their families are weighing in.
