Legendary Actor Bill Nunn Passes Away at 62
Bill Nunn, the iconic actor known for playing Radio Raheem in Spike Lee’s Do the Right Thing, has died. He was 62 years old.
As confirmed by Lee himself in a series of Instagram posts, the actor passed away earlier today (September 24) in his hometown of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. At the time of this report, more information has yet to surface regarding his cause of death and other details.
“My Dear Friend, My Dear Morehouse Brother- Da Great Actor Bill Nunn As Most Of You Know Him As Radio Raheem Passed Away This Morning In His Hometown Of Pittsburgh,” Lee posted on his Instagram. “Long Live Bill NUNN. RADIO RAHEEM Is Now RESTING IN POWER. RADIO RAHEEM WILL ALWAYS BE FIGHTING DA POWERS DAT BE. MAY GOD WATCH OVER BILL NUNN.”
Nunn’s acting career was sprinkled with high profile roles. In addition to working with Spike Lee, he also starred in the 1989 classic New Jack City and also acted in the Spider-Man trilogy, Idlewild, Mo Betta Blues and He Got Game.
