Tyler Perry's week is off to a great start as it was just confirmed that he locked down the top spot at the box office this weekend with his new film, Boo! A Madea Halloween.

According to The Guardian, the Madea-led movie beat out the likes of Tom Cruise (Jack Reacher: Never Go Back) and Ben Affleck (The Accountant), raking in $27.6 million.

Though the film secured the No. 1 spot, it's not the best a Madea film has done over the years — in fact, it's the third best opening, behind Madea Goes to Jail and Madea's Family Reunion.

Reuters reported that the African-American audience was down 20 percent from the usual 80-90 percent that usually attend's Perry's Madea films. Needless to say, the film was a massive success.
