Octavia Spencer Did a Remarkable Thing to Make Sure Low Income Families Can See ‘Hidden Figures’

She deserves a round of applause for this.

While Hidden Figures continues to do wonders at the box office, currently leading over its competition, Octavia Spencer has chosen to embark on a new personal mission of her own in the inspiring spirit of the film.

Further proving that the leading actress has a heart of gold, Spencer bought out tonight's 8pm screening (Jan. 14) of the movie at a Baldwin Hills movie theater in Los Angeles, making sure that those who want to see the film, but can't necessarily afford to, now have an opportunity to see the motivational story along with their families.

Taking to Instagram, Spencer explains why she was in the giving spirit this Martin Luther King Day weekend, sharing the personal reason behind why she chose to purchase every seat in order to offer a special free screening for low-income families.

"If you know a family in need that would like to see our movie but can’t afford it have them come," the actress writes. "It’s first come first served. My mom would not have been able to afford to take me and my siblings. So, I’m honoring her and all single parents this #mlkweekend. Pass the word."

Absolutely remarkable. She deserves a round of applause for this selfless move, and we're sure tonight's screening will be extra special.
