Huge News for Kevin Hart

The comedian's home city is honoring him in a major way.

Kevin Hart just received the most prestigious honor from his home city of Philadelphia.

According to Philly.com, the city has announced a new holiday in the comedian/actor's name, made official by the city council.

"Kevin Hart Day" will rightfully be recognized on his birthday (July 6), with Councilman David Oh saying the holiday is "a simple way to show [Hart] gratitude" for being "a fantastic ambassador for the City of Philadelphia."

"Whether through his hilarious sense of humor or through his heartfelt generosity towards his hometown, Kevin Hart knows how to bring a smile to everyone in Philadelphia," he added.

Kevin Hart's roots in Philly are deep as he was born and raised there, attended college there and began the early stages of his comedy career at the city's local comedy clubs. Today, he is recognized as the highest paid comedian in the industry and is known for his sizeable donations to Philadephia schools.
