Just Haters? Nia Long's Alleged History of Diva Behavior Is 'Exposed'

This is hard to believe.

Nia Long made news for all the wrong reasons last week when it was revealed that she and Empire star Taraji P. Henson have been feuding since Long guest-starred on Henson's hit show. While the news surprised fans, it has now been revealed that Long's reputation as a diva started long ago, and has caused her trouble in the past.

Sources have come forward to dig up old dirt on Long, clearly not over the way they were treated on past movie sets.

“Every dog has their day. She does a lot of wrong to people, and now it’s biting her in the butt,” a source told Page Six. “She has a history of giving people a hard time, especially wardrobe and makeup.”

Another source said that Long held up shooting on The Best Man Holiday because “she insisted her character wear white when the director wanted everyone in black” for a funeral scene. Adding, “She threw a huge fit and held up production for nearly an hour because she refused to wear black . . . She argued, ‘My character wouldn’t be wearing black to a funeral! She would wear white!’ They eventually gave in because they felt like it was a frivolous battle.” The source also said, “Nia knows she’s demanding . . . She says it’s because she’s so passionate about the art.”

While it seems some of her former coworkers hold issue with Long, Empire executive producer Ilene Chaiken assured Page Six that she was a productive member of the Empire cast, saying, “Nia is a gifted actress, and we’re grateful for the incredible work she did on Empire in this pivotal role. Her character, Giuliana, is a nemesis for Cookie [Henson], and the stories in the press would appear to be conflating that fiction with reality. We can’t wait for the fans to enjoy her spectacular turn on the show. It’s pure Empire drama.”

While Empire executives may be trying to underplay the drama, it is clear that Long has had no trouble making enemies during her career.
