What goes into determining the G.O.A.T.?

As we witnessed during last week's episode of BET's Top 5 Live, during which the Top 5 Chris Brown songs were discussed in honor of the singer's birthday, figuring out the best of the best is no easy task and is a topic that must be handled with some serious care.

During a new segment of BET's Top 5 Live, host Brook England walks us through the delicate art of ranking the best mothers portrayed on some of our favorite television shows of all time. , With the assistance of a panel of experts and an enthusiastic live audience, BET gets to the bottom of which TV moms we wish were our own mothers and figure out who belongs in the coveted Top 5.

In celebration of moms everywhere this weekend, with Mother's Day falling on this Sunday (May 14), it's only fair to show love to some of our fantasy moms and get into a heated debate regarding which sitcom mother belongs in the Top 5.

Prior to the Top 5 debate kicking off, BET's Andrew Ricketts runs through the necessary perimeters to keep in mind when selecting and ranking which TV moms make the list and which do not. As he explains that no Top 5 is complete without specific criteria to abide by and that no alternative facts will be tolerated in these heated debates, he also explains how the live audience plays an integral role, inviting those tuning in to vote on either panelist's carefully curated list of the best TV moms.

With a panel comprised of BET.com producer and writer, Tanya Hoffler-Moore and media expert Keisha "Tasty Keish" Dutes of Bondfire Radio's TK in the AM, as well as with some insight provided from a handful of BET's staff boardroom style, the audience is provided with a wealth of knowledge to help decide which beloved TV characters make the cut and can be considered Top 5.

With possible candidates such as Empire's Cookie Lyons (Taraji P. Henson), Golden Girls' Sophia Petrillo (Estelle Getty), The Cosby Show's Clair Huxtable (Phylicia Rashad) and many more to choose from, it's safe to say that things definitely got interesting.

See how it all unfolds in the clip above and see which TV moms make the Top 5.

Be sure to keep it locked to BET on Facebook for forthcoming installments of Top 5 Live.
