Bruce Willis is trying to make a comeback with a remake of the 1974 film Death Wish, which was known for its racist undertones, even back then.

Now, with the trailer for the revamped 2017 version starring Willis being released, both fans of the original and those not familiar with it are bothered by the right wing message and change of setting from New York to Chicago as a problematic attack on minorities. Not to mention the main character is a white vigilante going on a killing spree in a hoodie.

The film follows a seasoned white man who becomes a heavily armed vigilante against civilians — many of whom are Black — in Chicago.

While that seems to be a problematic message in itself, piling on the facts that the film was changed in setting from New York to Chicago, where the African-American population is overwhelmingly higher, and that the main character is murdering folks while disguising his identity with a hoodie doesn't help.
