You might think anything goes on reality television. But for Shaunie O'Neal, who is the creator and executive producer of Basketball Wives, the drama with Jackie Christie and her daughter is over the top. And allegedly, Shaunie didn't see it coming.
In an inteview with VH1.com, Shaunie reveals, "I didn’t know much about this whole Jackie and her family thing. The only thing I knew was from social media and I try not to go off of social media because a lot of times, it’s BS. I would be happy to never talk about Jackie’s family issues again. I didn’t come into this season wanting to talk about it. I felt like that was her business, and I chose to stay out of it."
She explains that Jackie voluntarily brought up the drama with her daughter, Ta'Kari Lee, saying in the first scene they shot together, "she brought a Ziploc bag full of old pictures of her and her daughter [Ta’Kari], maybe her daughter was 11 and under. So, I was like, OK, I guess we’re gonna talk about this and again, I was very uncomfortable doing so because I don’t know her daughter. I didn’t really know anything about it and I didn’t really want to know because it just seemed so messy."
Shaunie said Jackie's feud with Ta'Kari got "dark" and she saw sides of Jackie that she had never seen before. Shaunie also said they wanted Ta'Kari on the show so she could defend herself against Jackie's accusations. Shaunie claims Jackie refused.
Damn, will Shaunie give Jackie the boot because of this drama? To read the full interview with Shaunie, click here.
