12 Days of Pride: BET.com Honors Lena Waithe

Drag superstar Shangela honors the Emmy winner.

It is the time of year again when we honor queer people of color for LGBT Pride Month with BET.com's 12 Days of Pride. Drag superstar Shangela Laquifa Wadley helps us celebrate 12 LGBT people of color who are making (or made) big moves.

We kick off the series by honoring Lena Waithe.

Waithe became the first Black woman to win an Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series Emmy for her work on Master of None – and the episode she won for was based on her true-life experience of coming out to her mother as a proud queer woman. The Chicago native also created the drama series The Chi on Showtime, which is about life growing up in the South Side of Chicago.
This diva is a bold and fearless storyteller who makes no apologies for being a Black queer woman.

Watch Shangela break it all down in the video, above.
