Every Time the Obamas Shut Down the Kardashians

Is there really any comparison?

The First What? - So, the trusty folks over at Cosmopolitan magazine — the same publication that once trivialized rape and put only Black models on their "RIP trends" list — is now in the heat of another scandal. On their latest issue, which features the Kardashians, the tagline “America’s First Family” is used. Many people are taking offense since, well, we already have a qualified and revered First Family in the Obamas. Naturally, Twitter went into a frenzy. So, to prove just how wrong Cosmo is again, here's every time the Obamas shut down the Kardashians.— By Moriba Cummings(Photos from left: Cosmopolitan Magazine/November 2015, MAI/Pete Souza /Landov)

No Means 'No' - The queen Kardashian, Kim, is arguably the empress of reality TV — we’ll give her that — but that doesn’t mean the leader of the free world will jump at her command. Reportedly, when Kim tried to get close to President Obama back in May 2014, she was met with a “no thanks.” She initiated the one-on-one introduction with the POTUS at the USC Shaoh Foundation’s 20th Anniversary Ambassadors for Humanity Gala in LA. No one man should have all that power — President Obama, that is.(Photos from left: Larry Busacca/Getty Images, Aude Guerrucci-Pool/Getty Images)

I Don't Know Him - Kanye West, once upon a time, said that he and President Obama spoke on the phone, but according to the Commander-in-Chief, it’s all in his head. During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, President O said that he doesn’t even have the Kardashian-Wests’ phone number. Burn.(Photos from left: Marc Serota/Getty Images, John Ricard / BET)

Listen to the President, Kids - The president thinks kids are becoming more proactive in their visions of success, as they no longer aspire to be reality stars “when they grow up,” but look to things more practical and lasting like, say, being president. During an interview, President Obama said, “Kids weren’t monitoring every day what Kim Kardashian was wearing or where Kanye West was going on vacation, and thinking that, somehow, that was the mark of success.” Kris Jenner went into Mama Kardashian/beast manager mode and fired back, saying on her now-canceled talk show, “It’s really great that people aspire to get a great job… but I wasn’t aware that you could only set the bar so high and that we could only dream so big.” Nice try Kris, but not good enough.(Photos from left: Pascal Le Segretain/Getty Images, Olivier Douliery - Pool/Getty Images)

Caitlyn With a 'C' - President Obama never gives the Kardashians the time of day — and we completely get it; he has much more important things to do — but many saw it as the ultimate form of shade when he tweeted Caitlyn Jenner’s historic Vanity Fair cover of the then-newly revealed trans woman in June 2015. “It takes courage to share your story,” he tweeted. That’s seven more words than he’s ever said about the six Ks.(Photos from left: Annie Leibovitz exclusively for Vanity Fair Magazine/ July 2015, Mark Wilson/Getty Images)

Stick to Your Day Job - When it comes to makeup, fashion trends and even dominating the reality TV circuit, Kim Kardashian probably is the ideal person to seek advice, but when it comes to foreign policy, leave that to the Commander-in-Chief. Kim had many people scratching their heads when she shared her thoughts on the topic, saying, “I would like President Obama to use the word ‘genocide.’ It’s very disappointing he hasn’t used it as President. We thought it was going to happen this year. I feel like we’re close — but we’re definitely moving in the right direction.” In true Obama fashion, he has not responded to the reality star’s suggestion, but luckily, Kim hasn’t given any political recommendations since.(Photos from left: Rick Diamond/Getty Images, Mark Wilson/Getty Images)

Petition This - Unfortunately, Kanye West is what many call a “Kardashian by association” — or, technically, marriage — so he isn’t exempt from the shade. In August 2015, after Ye’s fans became a little impatient with the release of his upcoming album SWISH, they created a White House petition, which read, “Kanye West has kept us thirsty for too long. We haven’t gotten any new singles in months. The President should order Ye to drop the album on the date August 21.” Oh, yeah? Well, the president gave a subliminal response, all right. After the petition gained tens of thousands of signatures, the White House closed it, claiming it was a violation of We the People’s terms of participation.(Photos from left: Mike Theiler-Pool/Getty Images, Jonathan Daniel/Getty Images)

The First Lady of Everything - Kim Kardashian has probably covered every major fashion publication, Vogue included — Unfortunately, she did so with her then-fiancé Kanye West by her side. First Lady Michelle Obama has covered Vogue magazine not once, but twice, and on her own accord — solo. #Flawless(Photos from left: Vogue Magazine/April 2014, Vogue Magazine/April 2013)

The Carters Over the Wests - It’s no secret that the Obamas love the Carters, and for good reason. President Obama admitted that he religiously listens to Jigga and First Lady Michelle Obama considers Beyoncé a role model for her daughters and even forged a friendship with Queen Bey — did you see that hug at the 2015 Global Citizen Festival? As for the Kardashian-Wests? Well, the same can’t be said, so that probably explains why the First Family isn’t too eager to rub shoulders with them. You win some, you lose some, right?(Photos from left: Raymond Hall/GC Images, Olivier Douliery-Pool/Getty Images)
