16 Muslim Celebrities Who Make America Great

Iman, Ice Cube, Mahershala Ali and more.

From Mahershala Ali to Ice Cube - With Donald Trump as our POTUS, many people have seen their lives become mocked and ridiculed — among this list are America's Muslim population. Back in 2016, Trump banned Muslims from specific countries (although he claims it's not a ban) and protests broke out all over the country. Most recently, in 2019, he claimed Rep. Ilhan Omar "hated our country" and told her and three other liberal congresswomen to "go back" to their countries of origin. His comments were later condemned as racist in a House resolution. To show our support of the Muslim American population, here’s a look at a few celebs who are great representations of the Islamic faith.(Photos from left: Scott Kowalchyk/CBS via Getty Images, Johnny Nunez/WireImage, Kevin Winter/Getty Images for WarnerMedia)

Muhammad Ali - Perhaps one of the most widely known faces of Islam is Muhammad Ali, who changed his name to his famous moniker from his birth name Cassius Marcellus Clay Jr. in the 1960s after converting to the faith. He later converted to Sunni Islam in 1975. Seeing as Ali was an activist for both Black and Muslim rights, we’re sure he would've taken Trump down. Sadly, Ali passed away on June 3, 2016.(Photo: Cindy Ord/Getty Images for Norman Mailer Center)

Mahershala Ali - Oscar winner Mahershala Ali used his acceptance speech in 2017 to tell the story of his mother, an ordained minister, accepting that he had converted to Islam. His win came in the wake of President Donald Trump unveiling the policy that quickly became known as his "Muslim travel ban." In his speech, Ali said, "I'm a Muslim. [My mother] didn't do backflips when I called her to tell her I'd converted 17 years ago. But I tell you now, you put things to the side [and] I'm able to see her, she's able to see me, and we love each other."(Photo by Kevin Winter/Getty Images for WarnerMedia)
