Tardy for the Party: Lauryn Hill Shows Up Two Hours Late for Atlanta Gig

The angry crowd gave her quite the welcome.

Lauryn Hill's reputation of being late precedes her, and this proved to be true during one of her recent shows in Atlanta.

According to the Atlanta Journal Constitution, L-Boogie showed up two hours late for a performance at the Chastain Park venue in the city, and neither her fans nor the venue were having it.

The Friday night show was set to start at 8:00 p.m., but the former Fugees frontwoman didn't show up until around 10:00 p.m. While some venues are more tolerable of late arrivals, Chastain Park could not afford to as they close for business at 11:00 p.m. sharp, giving the singer roughly an hour to perform her full set.

Unfortunately, things only got worse as Ms. Hill's mic was cut off promptly at 11:00 p.m., 40 minutes into her set. The folks at Chastain Park weren't having it. At all. Check out a clip of what went down, below.

Even though her mic was cut off, she continued singing for a few minutes longer, but her fans, who were clearly over it, just kept booing her, prompting her to leave the stage.

When an angry fan confronted the singer at the end of the show about her tardiness, she explained that it wasn't her fault — it was her driver's: "My driver got lost. I can't control that," she said.

Find out why the singer missed the 2016 Grammys in the BET Breaks video, above.
